Found some clues that I'm perhabs not the only one with this problem. Naturally I follow, insert a blank cd-rw, then a cd-r, and it wont read.

The drive is really good. I mean if anyone will know, they will.

Any advances are greatly appreciated. Dvt aware that its probably possible to find these drivers elsewhere but I'm not sure if this is what I should be doing.

Hey, I had the exact same problem you did on my HP dv 1k4. Unable to read at least a third of regular DVDs.
